One of our true Wexfordians, Jeanette, tells us why she loves living in Wexford. . .
“There’s an atmosphere in Wexford (in a good way!) like no other town in Ireland! What is really unique is that this atmosphere seems to change depending on the time of year.
In Summer, there is a very real holiday atmosphere. Many visitors come to our town, there is a plethora of festivals and events taking place and all this activity creates a certain buzz and excitement. My favourite things to do on a sunny day in Wexford are to take a picnic to John F. Kennedy Park or spend an evening on one of our beautiful beaches.
When the sun sets on Summer and Autumn rolls in, the atmosphere is equally as exciting but in a very different way. Wexford Opera Festival commences, along with Wexford Spiegeltent Festival and a very varied Fringe Festival. There’s nothing like wrapping up warm during Festival time and walking beneath the Festival lights through town at night. A lovely time of year for a night out in one of my favourite restaurants also. By day, it’s a great experience to visit the various exhibitions on during this time. I wouldn’t live anywhere else!”
